TIG-welded on top of the polished steel shaft is MSD's adjustable mechanical advance assembly. To accurately trigger the ignition, a high-output magnetic pick-up is bolted to the base. This trigger pick-up produces a precise trigger signal. An MSD red cap with brass terminals and Race Rotor are supplied.
Sharing the CNC machining techniques with the rest of the MSD Distributor line, the Olds housing is machined from high quality 6061-T6 aluminum. Adding to this strength are two sealed ball bearings that guide the 0.500" shaft accurately through 10,000+ rpm.
Features:
- CNC machined billet aluminum housing and billet aluminum base
- Must be used with an MSD Ignition Control
- Advance weight pins are staked and tig welded to the plate
- Easy-to-adjust mechanical advance with supplied springs and stop bushings
- Will not accept a vacuum advance canister
- Polished steel shaft is QPQ coated and guided by two sealed ball bearings
- Nylon pads ensure smooth operation of the advance weights
- Maintenance-free magnetic pickup and precision reluctor create stable trigger signals throughout the rpm range
- No CARB Exemption Order Number
- Supplied with an HEI style distributor cap and rotor (accepts Cap-A-Dapts)
- Advance plate and weights are fine blanked from chrome moly steel and QPQ coated for friction reduction
- Mechanical advance assembly can be locked out for crank trigger systems
