MSD Ignition’s Joe Pando recently spent a weekend at the races in Sweden. The NHRA is so All-American that a lot of people don’t realize all the drag racing that happens in other places around the world. The racers over in Sweden don’t quite reach John Force speeds, but they still put on one hell of a show! Check out the pictures of Joe, and Racepak’s Tim Anderson during their drag race adventure abroad.
Thanks to Carina Dahl for the photos!
Larry Dixon finally scored his first of the season by outrunning Antron Brown in the final round. In Funny Car, Robert Hight won his fourth race of the season by overcoming Jack Beckman in the final. Pro Stock had Mike Edwards deny Erica Enders a milestone victory as she tried to become the first woman to win in the history of Pro Stock category. Melanie Troxel raced to her first victory of the season in the Pro Mod category. Congratulations to all the winners!
Welcome to day 7 of the tour!
Yesterday we were on the west coast of Michigan for a great day of cool weather and
everyone was having a blast! Today, we’re on the east coast just north of
Detroit and are
gearing up for a another – and the last – day of Tour! Signs of muscle cars are
everywhere with big cubic inch engines stuffed in muscle cars, blowers,
mechanical injection and huge tires tucked up in the fenders. Last night we
passed by Woodward and Graitiot Avenues – the birthplace of the muscle car wars!
C’mon on out and check out the wrap up of the 2011 Power
What a great day to be at Indianapolis Motor Speedway! The
weather on this year’s Power Tour has finally broken for the better. Today is
still pretty warm, but it is much better than it has been. With better weather
we can see than many participants’ spirits are up. The speedway venue offers
some shade for a nice change and also has a few amazing opportunities for us to
Fans who got to IMS early had the opportunity to sign up to
ride in a two seater IndyCar. Unfortunately, the rides sold out before we could
convince the boss to pay for our ride. Nonetheless we are sure it was just
awesome for those that got to participate. Just getting to see and hear the
cars go around the track was pretty cool for the rest of us. At the end of the
day, the entire Power Tour had the chance to take their hot rods on a lap of
the 2.5 mile oval and go across The Bricks. This stop is sure to be one to
remember, but now we are off to Michigan!
The community spirit of Hot Rod Power Tour showed in an
awesome light today! So far on the Power Tour fans and participants haven’t
been scared by the daily highs that hit in the upper 90s and even over 100
degrees each day. Unfortunately, the heat and long drives are working together
to take a toll on some of the vehicles.
In true hot rodder spirit the community has banded together.
There are plenty of cars that have had to pull off to the side of the road for
one reason or another, but no one has been left behind. Today one of the cars
had issues with a competitor’s ignition parts and a group was able to put
together enough spare parts, including items from MSD’s support trailer, to
keep him on the road and on the way to the next event.
We look forward to more great days like this, helping out
customers and having a great time with the hot rod community. Roll on Power
Today the Hot Rod Power Tour started out hot before it got
out-right miserable: and was fun the whole way through. For the tour, the MSD
trailer gets to each event early in the morning for setup and
prep. Normally we are ready just in time to start handing out magnets and offer
tech advice. Today alot of the HRPT participants took a detour to the
Kennedy Space Center, which gave us a few extra hours before things got busy.
To fill the time, we took an old MSD vehicle to the drag
strip at South Georgia Motorsports Park for a little fun. Check out the
pictures attached see all the fun we had!
