Hotchkis
Performance made it to the kick off by the hair of their chinny-chin-chin.
The second gen Camaro sports a list of suspension modifications along
with an LS-1 and 6-speed drivetrain.
See,
told you so.
Gas
stops are fun. Every 100 miles or so there is a designated exit or area
for everyone to fill up on fuel, coffee, munchies and for relief. It's
great to see everyone pull in as the town gets over-taken by street
rods, muscle cars and cruisers.
The
drive to Phoenix was a test to your engine's cooling system and air conditioning.
It was hot. Way Hot. Actually the desert and saguaros looked a little
more green than usual. I guess overtime, things learn to adapt.
Speaking
of things that adapt, here's the MSD navigator Ed Monte putting the clean
up on the wagon. It was a mere 108° outside though Ed was still in slacks
and a black shirt. Freak.
There
were plenty of great local cars at the Phoenix cruise night. The Firebird
Raceway had drag racing going on and the cars were lined up back on to
the road course.
The
next morning came far too early and we soon found ourselves heading north
on 17 to Flagstaff. The view quickly melded from desert to evergreens
and spectacular views.
Another
orange Pontiac purring along.
All
of a sudden there was a blower whine and a blue/reddish Ford streaked
by. It was none other than Yasha and Brandon, MSD engineers and resident
street racers. Yasha's truck features a maze of go-very-fast goodies and
his right foot was just itching for a challenge.
Gray
Baskerville of Hot Rod was the primary lensman this Tour. At the wheel
is full time Power Tour chauffeur/editor Ro. Ol' Dad was popping pictures
like Jiffy Pop on a flathead at Bonneville.
