Power Tour West- 1999

For the last five years, Hot Rod Magazine has presented the mother of all road trips, the Power Tour. What started as a small group, largely the editorial staff cars, has grown into a parade of thousands of cars forming a colorful thread of classic iron and horsepower that wraps across the country. Each night there is a cruise in a different city where you can hear about the day's drive and meet even more people that joined that day.
Due to an excess of distance and a lack of time, MSD joined forces with BFGoodrich for the '99 Tour. Rather than cruising a low hanging, big block with wide tires, this year we piloted a lifted up, big block with huge tires in the form of a '99 Suburban! The truck had been outfitted with plenty of hardcore off-road goodies by none other than Rad Rides by Troy! That's right - the group behind such incredible cars as the Predator, Sniper and Bisquik (which was on this Tour again) is responsible for our Subs build-up!
We had plenty of power on hand with an MSD 6 Ignition and Timing Control, Hypertech program, K&N Filtercharger and throaty Flowmasters giving the 7.4L a little more oomph. And we needed every bit to get the massive Sub a-rollin' along the highways, biways and the occasional lost highways as we traversed from San Bernardino, California to country music's capitol of Nashville, Tennessee!
