For my birthday my father gave me a distributor that he has kept wrapped up in the garage for my 350SBC project. I need to find out what model it is. The PN is 8461. I've searched the MSD website along with Summit Racing and Jeg's and I can't find anything that matches. I need to find out what it is so I will know which ignition box and ignition coil to use. Thanks.

The distributor that you have has been obsolete for about 8 to 10 years, but it is a Chevy engine distributor and will fit either the small or big block motor. It has a magnetic pick up and can be used with either of the MSD Units that have a magnetic input. The MSD Unit would be either the 6 Series, 7 Series, 8 or 10 Series.
If you have a mild street/strip, you can use it with a MSD 6A, PN 6200 or MSD 6A-L, PN 6420 w/rev limiter. You could also use any of the Blaster Series Coils, PN 8202, 8223, 8207. Thanks, msdtech2 |
