Hi,
Running the usual dual mags on nitro top fuel dragster. I have read that the coils on the promag44 system have a typical secondary voltage of approximately 45000V. Apparently some to the early coils were up to 60000V. Normally the full secondary voltage is not reached as the gap in the spark plug is breached and the secondary of the coil discharges. In our engine we run a setup that would not be allowed under NHRA regulations (we are located in Australia). We have an issue where we are reaching excessive cylinder pressures and causing misfires. I am putting this down to the simple fact that the secondary voltage is unable to reliably jump the plug gap. My questions are- 1/What is the primary voltage being applied to the coils on the promag 44 system ? 2/Is there any "boosting" module or hardware available that could increase the primary voltage being applied to the coils ? what plug gap? how old are the wires?/ crank trigger or just generators |

1/What is the primary voltage being applied to the coils on the promag 44 system ? 720--800 volts 2/Is there any "boosting" module or hardware available that could increase the primary voltage being applied to the coils ? the primary voltage is controlled by the "fets" ,, so there really is not a external "boosting" module available. |
