Default MSD Review question

I would like to know how to read engine rpm. I have the 7730 in a jet boat. I can open the engine rpm, but can't read the rpm. Do I have to have a drive shaft sensor to read engine rpm? I just would like to see down track rpm. Any help would be great.

Thank you,

Move the Blue or the red cursor lines to where you want to look at the RPM at, the text will display the RPM where the corresponding cursor is at.

I have done that but the RPM is not even close to what it should be. Could it be that I do not have the 7730 wiring correct?

If you're getting a RPM signal, the wiring ought to be ok I'd bet. Do you have the box set for 4 cyl on an 8 cyl or something like that. How far off is it? If you start the car up and watch the computer what does it read on the display if you turn the engine rpm gauge on?

I will check on the 8 cyl. Am 90% sure it is on the 8 cyl setting. Good think on the engine rpm gauge. I will try that and see. I have a 6Al ignition box in line with the 7730, don't know if this make a difference.
