Im having a problem that seems to be the starter saver thats built in quit working. just installed a fresh 635" 14.5-1 engine after sitting for 6 months and the engine turns over fine with the starter but when I turn on ignition the starter kicks back and tears up the ring gear. Ive replaced 2 times and dont want to do it again. help! 10/10/12 10:15 am.

Have you checked rotor phasing on your distributor?
