8201 and 5520 on Toyota Land Cruiser

Happy owner of a 1998 late 1FZ-FE Toyota Land Cruiser (105 series).

Now, I wish to modify the ignition system from the original ECU controlled system using 3 coils to a CDI one.

What I want to do is: to install 3 MSD 8201 coils to replace the stock coils and to install the MSD Street Fire 5520 to enable capacitive discharge ignition (CDI).

These are the things I have bought so far:
Street Fire Ignition - 5520
Pro Power Coil - 8201

I have already bought these so I hope I will have use for them. Just need to know how to connect them. I attach some pictures where you can see the engine etc.

First: The Streetfire CDI is NOT compatible with the ProPower Coils.

Second: It appears that this system uses transistorized coil-on-plug coils. If this is the case, a CD ignition is not available for this application.

I desperately need to get CDI for my vehicle. Is there any other combination of equipment than the ones I bought that will provide CDI?

to put a CDI on this system you will need the following...

6304 DIS signal converter $81.00 US

62152 DIS 4 $691.60 US

and either
6x 8207 coils $53.90 US ea = $323.40 US
or
6x 8232 coils $63.30 US ea = $379.80 US
or
3x 8224 coils $53.90 US ea = $161.70 US

this is what you'll need to put a CDI unit in your vehicle

Hi guys,

I have got the MSD DIS-4 HO and 6x 8232. I got sparks so I can confirm the DIS box works fine. Have only tested sparking 4 coils, and they work perfectly.

I have a question:
What is the polarity of the Coil HV, is it positive or negative?

I'll give you a mileage improvement report when it's all fitted!
