Default What ignition to use

Hi, I have a 1936 Ford pickup with a 496ci big block Chevy which I plan on about 95% street use. It is equipped with a B&M Mega blower with twin 750s. Dynoed at 855hp at 6100 rpm. I am looking for a complete ignition system. Distributor, box, coil and wires. Thanks for your help.

Do you need any functions out of the box, such as rev-limiters, boost retards, or timing controls? As for a distributor our PN 85551 should be just fine. The cool is going to depend on which box you end up running. As for wires, do you want the wires routed over the valve cover, under the header, or half and half?

No we will be in Seattle with the big trailer and Charlotte with the small trailer this weekend.

The box with a rev-limiter and a boost retard is the MSD 6BTM pn 6462. For the wires you might want to look at our PN 35599 for red or PN 35593 for black.

Default mixed options

Ok, now I am even lost more. I did run into a MSD tech display at the Louisville NSRA event. He did recommend the 85551 or even the 8570 depending on clearance. He did however like the 8253 coil and the 6530 box and custom fit wires. Advantages/disadvantages to either system?

The 6530 requires all changes to be via a laptop. There really is no wrong answer... it's more along the lines of what features you're looking for and how comfortable you really are tuning with a laptop.
