timing is not retarding on the 1st stage.....2nd and 3rd work. without the 1 stage working,obviously,the launch retard isn't going to work, right..? this something that i will have to send in for repair..?

Actually, Try changing the first stage retard wire with either the 2nd or 3rd stage wires and then program the retard amounts for the respective stages. As long as the activation wire sees 12 volts, the retard should work.
