Default Testing MSD 42306 pickups

I'm putting a new ignition on my bike that is using the MSD 42306 universal motorcycle triggers. I've come to test them and am scratching my head as they appear to not be working but hopefully I'm just missing something obvious.

I'm applying 12v to the red wire, 0v to the black and then trying to measure a signal using a multimeter at the white and blue wires. As I pass the magnet (marked side facing the pickups) past the pickups, I see nothing! I assume I should be seeing a 12v pulse as the magnet passes the pickup?

The pickups are brand new out of the box, I've not even fitted a connector plug to them yet. Any help would be appreciated!

regards
Ric
