What is the optimum air gap between the pickups and the rotor/magnet on a watercraft/snowmobile system. Seems like it should be somewhere around .050-.075 ? Our system was around .125 and timing was jumping around a little, we tightned it up to .035 and its much more stable but didn't want to get it too close.
Thanks

Anybody have any information on where your pickups are set?

The air gap between the triggers and flywheel should be .050"-.094". The kit should of come with a set of shims to adjust the air gap.

Using the Small engine controller on a quarter midget, Deco motor. Should the air gap from the magnetic pickup to the flywheel also be .050 to .095 ? What does having more or less air gap do ? Is there any difference in timing or performance?

The only reason for the correct gap is to make sure the unit is receiving a good trigger signal.
Thank you
