91 Dodge Dakota

Hi,

I was wondering what ignition upgrades you recommend for the 1991 dodge dakota with a built 318. It seems to be alittle different than the other models the computer controls everything even the firing of the coil. I had tried one of the load seinsing Jacobs OMNI coil's and it did not work at all. I could not get my truck to work under any sort of load, it would shut off causing bad backfiring (blew out my catyltic convertor).

We have not had problems with any of the Dodge trucks, early or late model. You can use an MSD 6A part number 6200 on the truck. We offer a direct replacement high output coil part number 8228, this will work on all of the Dodge truck from 1990-1997. we offer a universal harness part number 8873 which allows you to hard wire the harness in the first time then after that bypassing the box if needed is a simple up-plug and plug.
