View Full Version : Misfire

I have a msd 6AL with a blaster 2 coil. It is run with a 2.3 turbo with 150 hp nitrous. I usually run .025 gap on the plugs with no misfire. I went up to 190-200 or so of nitrous and I am getting misfire now. I have been suggested without spending alot of $$ on a better box to try the 8253 coil first.... I know it is pushing the limits of the 6AL but will changing the coil help??
Ideas, suggestions?? thanks

Without having to spend too much money the PN 8253 will be a good choice, this will give you a better spark energy and will help fire the plugs under higher cylinder pressures. You could also reduce the gap down to .022 to see if it will help.

I tried the new coil 8253 and NGK iridium plugs. The misfire is still there. Any other suggestions??? What would be the next msd box that would have enough power to spark 15:1-16:1 compression with 200+ n20???

If you are still having problems the unit that will work with this coil, would be the PN 7520 Digital 7 Plus. This will have 170 millijoules of spark energy versus the 115 that the 6A has.

Yes, You can use the MSD PN 8253 Coil with the MSD 7AL-3 Ignition Control.

I have located a msd digital 7 with 8251 coil. Will it have enough power to fire 16:1-17:1 with 200-250 nitrous??

Yes, that will be a good combination for what you are running.
