View Full Version : Msd 6a An Billet Dist Trouble

ok i have an 6a wired in with an harness an a billet msd dist. with the timing set at 12: the car has a lower speed miss not a stumble just a miss at around 2200 thur 2700 rpm if i run it at 10 its fine but a dog motors a 331 with gt40 heads, holley intake, 24 lbs inj, f cam , gear drive , i just put a 150 shot on it it has #23 plugs , also how do i set total timing with this dist ? thanks eric

Did you change the springs or the advance stop bushing on the MSD Distributor you installed? What is the part number on the MSD Billet Distributor that you have? Do you have a degreed harmonic balancer or a degree tape on the balancer?

ok this is the pro billet dist 8456 last # hard to read i have a degreed balancer thanks eric its right out of the box on the car

The PN 8456 does not have spring and bushings, it is a direct replacement distributor and the timing is controlled by the ECU. The timing is adjusted the same as a factory where you disconnect the PIP Connector and check base timing. I do not know what total timing would be; you will have to check it on the vehicle.
