I have just purchased a MSD pt no 8979 Multi function ignition controller.Firstly it will work with a 7AL-3 wont it?(says me after buying it!)If so is there a wiring diagram for the installation to a 7AL-3?
I also use a MSD pn 8735 launch control module selector. Can i still use that?and does it plug in to the digital box or the 7AL-3 if i can?I hope so as that box is so useful for changing track conditions.

The MSD Multi-Function Ignition Controller, PN 8979, plugs into the MSD 7AL-2 or 3's RPM Module receptical on the side of the unit. You can follow the diagrams on pages 8-11of the PN 8979 instructions. Since you are plugging the PN 8979 into the RPM socket of the 7AL-3 Ignition you will not be able to use the Launch Control Module Selector, PN 8735, that you currently have. The correct part that performs the same functions for the Multi-Function Controller is the MSD Manual Lauch Controller, PN 7551.

Thanx for the reply.I've just checked your site and it says the Manual launch controller is pt no 8736.Which one is it? 7551 or 8736? I need to know quickly as i'm ordering today or tomorrow.

The only difference between the PN 7551 and the PN 8736 is that the PN 8736 has a built-in shift light that will turn on at the preprogrammed rpm points that you want to shift at. Both units will allow you to change the Launch RPM at the starting line.
