I just installed a MSD Blaster FTI Coil PN8227 on a 1990 (5.0 HO 302) Ford Mustang GT. The coil is making a repeating and very annoying popping noise during operation. The noise can be heared while seated in car with all the doors shut. Please advise how to resolve this noise.

Thanks

Make sure that the spark plug wire is fully connected to the coil's tower terminal. If there is an air gap between the coil wire teminal and the coil's tower it will make that noise. In the evening, shut off the lights and look to see if you can see any arcing. I suspect the spark is jumping to ground somewhere.

I checked per your recommendations. The plug wire is fully connected to the coil tower (Using 9mm Ford Motorsport Wires). Check coil, wires, and all plug connections in dark for any arching (plugs are new motorcraft - replaced last week - gapped to 0.42 per emissions guideline). No arching was present.

What is the next step since the annoying noise problem is still present?

I would recommend replacing with the original and if the noise is gone, send in for testing.
