Hi, we just bought a boat with an MSD 8981 timing computer, a blue box behind the firewall and an Msd Distributor and magnetic crank.
On initial crank to start , the coil sparks one time on ground and no further spark,
We tried another coil and that didn"t help...Any Ideas would be appreciated,
Thanks, eDavid
P.S.
Seller of boat moved out of town and is not available to us

There are several items that need to be checked, make sure they are wired in correctly. If you need a diagram you can find them in our MSD website under downloads, you can also find the section for troubleshooting and it will explain how to check for spark. Check for voltage on all red wires of the MSD Unit, PN 6460 Marine Unit, (blue box) and the PN 8981 Timing Control, as well as grounds. On the cranktrigger pick up, check this with an ohmmeter, it should have 80 to 90 ohms if it is open this would indicate a bad pick up.
Thanks,
