View Full Version : Jeep GW Application

I am looking for a good economical upgrade for my 1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. I do not plan on off roading, but I do need power for pulling a large trailer on occasion. I am told that the Jeep uses Motorcraft parts and that it can be upgraded to something simular to a 1984 F350 460cid . A suggested upgrade was the MSD-6AL, MSD 8.5mm Super Conductor Wire Set, Ford Blaster TFI Coil. Also suggested was a distributer upgrade of a 1984 EEC distributor base, cap, and rotor. I would like to know if this is a good configuration for my application and if the Cap-A-Dapt would work for the distributor upgrade. Thanks.

The following parts will work for your application,
PN 6420, MSD 6A-L
PN 31199 Universal Wire Set w/Straight at plug end (or)
PN 31239 Universal Wire Set w/90 Degree at plug end
PN 8207 Blaster SS Coil
We do not offer the cap and rotor for your application; they are not the same as the Ford System. Unfortunately we do not offer a custom wire set, so the universal would be the best fit. The MSD Universal set come with mini crimper and boots and terminals to fit your cap.

Thanks for the information. Could you verfiy if I should order PN 31859 Custom wire set rather than the universal wire set.

The PN 31859 will have different length wires and may not fit properly, which will also depend on the factory routing of the plug wires, you would be safer using the universal set for proper fitting.
