was wondering if the msd tach adapter will work with a jacobs ignition,if so how do you wire it?

Depends on whether it is an inductive ignition or a capacitive discharge ignition. If it is inductive it will not work. If it is a CD it will depend on which model it is.

I will need to know if you are triggering the ignition through the Green wire or through the Orange and Purple wires.

The MSD Tach Adapter, PN 8910, should work on your application if your tach is looking for a kickback signal from the coil. The MSD Tach Adapter has two wires, one would connect to the ignition Red wire and the other to the ignition green wire. I am not sure that the jacobs ignition is protected from the voltage spike created by the adapter, but I would suspect that it is.

i thought the 8910 was for points ignition,78 fords don't have points.do i use the 8910 or the 8920?also what would the voltage spike do to the ignition?i see you sell a diode that some cars need do i need to install this? thank you

Since you are triggering through the Green wire of the ignition, you will need the PN 8910 Tach Adapter. The 8910 is for points or amplifier triggered systems, in your case you are triggering through the Green wire so I take it that you are still using the factory module that was equipped with the vehicle. You could install a 1 amp/500 volt diode on the Green wire so that it prevents a kickback from going to the ignition control.
