i just bought a used MSD 6A ignition off a friend from work. the instruction manual that came with it has instructions for installing on a honda with an internal coil. my 1st question is......do i have an internal coil. the motor i have swapped into my civic is B16A2 from a 94 J-spec del sol. 2nd. what kind of plugs should i use? i currently have NGK, not sure of model. they are a year old and would like to replace. any recomendations. i would prefer to stay with NGK but if not, its ok. also, I have Accel 8mm wires, again, not sure of what model. are these ok to keep (solid core, yes or no?). any info you could give me would be greatly appreciated. this ignition stuff is new to me. also, what other products could i benefit from. I do plan on running nitrous in the future, Zex to be exact. but no time soon. please help

To determine if you have an external coil, just look to see if there are five spark plug wires connected to the distributor cap. If there is, then one of those will be connected to an external coil. If there are only four, then you have an internal coil. I would stick with the NGK plugs. There web site is http://www.ngk.com/ and you can get recommendations on the correct plug for your engine at that site. Make sure that the spark plug wires you have are not "solid core" type wires. You need to be running a Helically wound or Spiral wound suppression type wire when you install the MSD unit. Here is a link to the list of Spark Plug Wires that MSD offers for the Honda applications. http://www.msdignition.com/wire_sets_1.htm#honda
