OK...I've got the MSD 6A and the PN8910 Adapter; I'm very exited,...but then I see the Tach adapter came with a diode and the wiring diagram tell me how to install it,.....but.....What's the porpose of the diode and how do I know if I need to install the diode?... I need to know this before I install them...

This is a cool site for MSD wiring techniques.

According to the owner's manuals, the diode should be installed if your engine continues to run with the ignition switch turned off.

On some vehicles you have to install the diode on the White trigger wire of the MSD that is connected to the factory points/ignition amplifier wire. First you should try it without the diode and see if everything runs correctly.

Just so that know, the diode is only in place in order to prevent the kick back voltage from the PN 8910 from affecting the White trigger wire of the MSD. The stock ecu needs to see the kick back voltage so that it knows when the coil fired. Hope this helps you understand it better.
