Hi was wondering now the Msd 10 plus is discontinued...If any Newer Version of a "High powered ignition" like the Msd 10 plus for High Boost Drag Racing applications would be made?.Im chasing something at least 700mjs with at least 20 deg spark duration like the 10 plus.should i buy a 10 plus or wait for something new and better to replace it?.
Alternatively could a Nitro harley V twin Ignition be configured to run a 6 cyl engine through a distributer and moddified magnetic pick up? not sure how they work but wondered if it could be done?.
I dont want to use cdi as i would rather longer duration.
and the Msd 8 isnt enough energy....
Regards
Ben.

the msd 10 has been gone for over two years now....what is your combo that requires more current then the msd 8? keep in mind that we have customers that use that 8 on tractor pullers using up to 110 lbs of boost on alcohol and o'course our must famous guy..larry larson in is 6 second twin turbo car and 2010 drag week winner ..

if more current is required, most of our heavy hitter twin turbo and blower customers use either a pro mag 20 or pro mag 44
with either a big stuff/ 7531/ or now the power grid p/n 7730.

and unfortunately, the top fuel harley ignition p/n 4215 cannot be modified to work in that application .
so what is your combo?

O.k looked more at the msd 8.(oops, i though it was cop before)
this is similar to msd 10 with 20 deg duration?
can the twin coil unit have the timing split 5 deg apart from each other betwen coils for use on a rotary engine? or would i have to have 2 units.
Thanks and regards
Ben

so you will have to use two 8 plus boxes..

what are you using to control timing and fuel?

engine is a 3 rotor.
havent decided on timing but fuel at this stage is microtech lt12s
may change as have notice others go away from this unit.
main reason for better accuracy of crank trigger.
got any ideas of what i should use?

Have looked at the Msd 8 plus more properly now...
Your right it would be enough power as has long duration spark.

If you use the Power Grid as a timing controller to control the 8 plus to give it more modern hightech features does it increase the mjs by extra 220mjs?

Msd 8 plus 345mjs
Msd Power Grid 220mjs...

If i used these 2 together how much could i expect at the plug tip?.

Also what type of Battery set up would you recomend 12v or 16v?
What size alternator? etc..
I noticed some people running a large Msd alternator.
Thanks and regards
Ben,
