Missing under load

Did some testing on my car last night and experienced a miss under load. The first time it happened at about 5500rpm, then 5000, then 4000, then while limping home at about 3500.

The car is a 73 Montego GT 429 BBF with a Crane XR-1 points conversion and a new Blaster 2 coil. The coil is wired straight to the factory wire. Do I need a resistor? The manual says the factory wire is a resistor wire, but do I need to add one too? Did I damage the coil?

The coil does not need a resistor, the one that may need the resistor is the Crane ignition, but you will have to contact them for the amount of resistance needed. The MSD coil has .7 ohms and depending on what the Crane requires, you will add to it. In this case normally the coil does not get damaged.

Thanks, I called Crane and they said to switch to thier coil which has the correct built in resistance. They said the XRi needs 3 ohms total, and that my stock wire only has 1.8. Thanks for the fast reply!
