We have a dragster that used to run a Pat Musi built Pro-Mod motor with three stages of NOS. We are selling this combination to go with a blower motor. We have no experience with blowers either in setup or tuning. I work on all the electronics and electrical needed. All I know is that they use a Magneto (pro-mag 12 , 44). The motor we are looking at would be a Hemi (tfx or brad5 or oddy)with a 14-71 blower. Can you advise me as to what are all the necessary additions to go with the magneto. We would like to make sure we have a complete system when we start our build.
I know the magneto and coil is a combination. What is the points box? Do we need a crank trigger like we did with the nos motor and is it the same?, we would like to play around with timing (retards) etc, is there a unit we can add to do this? How is a system like this activated (12v, 16v, 24v)? how is it shut down? What other additions could you recommend?
Do you have reference reading material that I can download to read?

Consider starting with the 8973 control. We have been very happy with it.

Thanks, but can you tell me what other accessories would be needed for a full install. We are not looking at cost here yet (not buying anything until we know what is best options), what we want to know is what makes up the ideal system.

You need the mag and coil, points box w/ rev limiter, and a crank trigger, plus the 8973.

Thanks. I will download some manuals and read about these. Also, what is the best option battery, 12v or 16v. We used 16v on the nitrous car, but don't know much about this new set-up. I saw in some outlaw cars they were using two smaller batteries. Are these two 12v? Would we need 24v to start the car?

Most use 2 12 volt in series. The more amperage you have the happier you will be. Nothing worse than a blower car that won't start.

Sounds like good information.

Do you guys have any info written on systems for blower cars? So far we are looking at switching to a alcohol funny car motor approx 3000HP. I need info, as much as possible as this will be a big switch for us. (from 2200HP 3-stage nitrous to 3000HP blower.)

Thanks MrBA. I am looking at everything right now. However, the motor is a single plug motor that will be set up for Top Dragster with a 14-71 and tranny.
