6AL going bad?

Hi, we are using a 6al ignition box on our car. This weekend we had a major loss of power, it almost sounded and felt like a cylinder was going down, but we did a plug check and all plugs looked good. We put new wires, coil, cap/rotor, distributor but nothing worked. We borrowed a DUI distributor from another driver and it seemed to clear up the problem at Idle, we did not run the DUI because it had a steel gear on it and we run bronze so I don't know if the DUI would have ran the same under power.

My question is whether this is a symptom of an ignition box going out. Usually, in my experience, it just quits when it goes bad. Is a loss of power a symptom of a box going bad?

Unlikely that it is the MSD unit going out. If the car was missing, then I would look at the secondary side of the igntition system ie. coil, spark plug wires, cap, rotor or spark plugs. If it did not miss and just felt flat, then I would look at timing, fuel, and battery voltage.
