which distributor with a carb box

I am going to run and MSD distributor on a 351 w with a carb enclosure. In 5.0 mustang they ran a 351 victor junior with a 1 inch carb spacer so the box would clear the distributor. My question is which distributor did they use. Some say the small diameter distributor will work with a victor intake because it is an inch smaller in diameter. Is this true. If not which one do I need. I know there is a specific distributor listed for a 351w with a victor intake but will it work with the carb box and a 1 inch spacer.

The MSD Small Diameter Ford V8 Distributor, PN 8578, will fit your application without any clearance issues. We also offer a distributor specifically for the Edelbrock Victor Jr. Intake manifold, PN 85805. The only area that I would check for is height interference problems with your box carb. The PN 85805 is 9 inches tall from the mounting flange to the top of the distributor cap.
