hi, this is my first post.i have just purchased the MSD 7530T ignition.i would like to know what is a reasonably priced lap top to buy.i would plan to spend 500-800 dollars for one if needed.what brand/make lap top would be needed, and what should i look for as far as memory, what ports/how many/type, and do i need windows xp or vista?
please understand that i am not a computer wiz so i may ask a lot of stupid questions. i think MSD ignition is the best . THANKS garym

I think the advice given to you on the DRR board is spot-on.

I spent $35.00 on a laptop (compaq armada 1700) which is more than sufficient to program my digital 7. If your spending over $100.00 on a laptop old enough to have a serial port your spending too much. :001_huh:
Ask the neighborhood computer geek, he/she will point you in the right direction.
Win95, winnt, winxp all work perfectly.

You might want to check out laptop on ebay. Look for a working laptop that has a serial port on it with at least 256MB of ram and possibly something better than windows98. I know its like asking to have your cake and eat it too, but in my experience you will get better support (should you need to take the thing into a computer repair shop) as well. The RAM is going to help the system operate a whole lot better and faster. The biggest downfall of anything below windows XP is drivers.
